Off SH85 Becks-Lauden Road, from the Poolbum Hotel on the Ida Valley road. Travel up Moa Creek road and turn left just past the old school into Webster Lane that is a gravel road. The dam is sign posted from this point past the former Moa Creek Hotel where a right turn is made. There are several access places around the lake that can be used. Some of these cross private land, and many can only be used by 4WD vehicles. Please respect this land and the stock that is on it. Also take your rubbish with you.
Boats can be used, but there are so many slightly submerged rocks that trolling is difficult and can be expensive on propellers and lures.
Dam boat ramp
There is a boat launching site at the dam wall on the left hand side.
Bonspiel Bay boat ramp
Huts bay boat ramp
Drunken Woman boat ramp
Gravel Beach boat ramp
Also an area on a gravel beach half a kilometre up from the wall is often used in southerly winds.
A vehicle track leads to several huts further up this side eventually to a gravel beach about a kilometre from the wall, which is often used to launch boats in southerly winds. Caution is necessary at the start of the narrows as there are some submerged rocks on your left.
